About W. E. B. Du Bois: While primarily known as a pioneering activist, historian, and sociologist, Du Bois was also an innovative philosopher. Among other topics, he wrote about scientific methodology and the metaphysics of race. He is to be credited with articulating social constructivism about race, which became the dominant theory.
